Improved Vista compatibility

All plug-ins updated for improved Vista™ compatibility

MicroSoft™ Windows™ Vista introduced a number of incompatibilities with our range of plug-ins. Luckily, these are obscure and most of our users have not had any problems upgrading to any of the versions Vista. Nonetheless, we've updated all our plug-ins to solve a number of these problems. If you have encounter any issues with our plug-ins in Windows Vista™, please download the most recent version from our site.

The primary issue solved occurs only when users have more than 2GB of RAM installed on their machine, at which point trying to access the plug-in may crash the graphics application which tried to access the plug-in. With these updates, our plug-ins are able to handle any amount of RAM using Windows Vista. Note that previous Windows versions such us XP and 2000, did not have this problem; you can, and always could, use our plug-ins on these operating systems with as much memory as you wanted.

There are currently two issues remaining, which we'll hope to fix soon. Both issues are easy to work around though, and neither will occur for most Windows Vista users. The first is the DEP (Data Execution Protection). Due to the way our plug-ins work, having DEP turned on will cause our plug-ins to crash. The simples workaround is to disable DEP for the graphics application and/or plug-in or disable DEP entirely. A fix for this issue will appear shortly. The second issue is related to UAC; with certain modes of UAC enabled, you cannot save settings files in the same folder in which the plug-in is installed, as is the default way for most users. The solution is to save your plug-in settings in another folder.
