Frequently Asked Questions

I purchased Halftone. How do I register Halftone?
You can find instructions on how to register Halftone can be found on the following page:

The plug-in does not appear to be loaded into Photoshop
There is a problem with Photoshop which causes only the first few (usually about 10 to 12) custom sub-menus of the filters menu to appear. The plug-in is in fact loaded and, if previously recorded into an action, can even be used, the only problem is that Photoshop doesn't list it in the filters menu. The only practical solution for this problem is to de-install some other plug-ins.

The plug-in appears gray in the menu, cannot be started or complains about the color mode
You're probably using an unsupported color mode.
The Halftone plug-in supports 8-bit or 16-bit color depth for RGB, Grayscale and Duotone color modes, both with and without transparency.

Why can't I use this plug-in with bitmap mode?
Photoshop plug-ins cannot handle bitmap mode. The best alternative is to use any supported image mode, such as grayscale. If you're starting from a bitmap mode image, use the smoothing feature to increase the size "resolution" of the dots. If you want to output to a bitmap mode image, use the anti-alias feature combined with default black & white dots to produce an output image with only pure black and pure white pixels, this image can be converted to bitmap mode in the graphics application without any loss of quality.

Why can't the plug-in do [missing feature]?
Most likely, we just haven't thought of it yet. You are always welcome to request new features for any of our products through e-mail; support@vanderlee.com.
If a requested feature is possible, we typically include it within two months after a request.

Can I use images created using Halftone for [purpose]?
Images created using Halftone (including using any of the custom shapes included) are entirely yours.
These images are copyrighted to you, the user and neither royalties nor credit is required. We cannot and do not claim any rights on these images.
You can use images created using Halftone (or any of our other plug-ins) for any purpose you wish.
