Installation instructions
All the windows archives available are self-extracting archives. Just
copy or move the archive to the plug-ins directory of your graphics
application (read the manual if you do not know where that is) and
double-click on the icon. Now just click the Extract-button and the archives
will be installed.
Alternatively, you can specify a destination subdirectory if you wish to
install from another directory, you can browse to a directory or type it in
manually.
A new subdirectory will be created by the installer, except for the
Premiere archive since Premiere cannot recursively scan subdirectories.
Note that some applications will not allow you to specify subdirectories in
the plug-ins directory. In order to use the plug-ins with these
applications, just move the content of the subdirectories to the main
plug-ins directory and everything should work just fine.
You will need to have the file "msvcrt10.dll" in the
Windows/System directory in order to use these plug-ins. In most cases this
file will already have been installed, if not than you're likely to find it
with some other application installed on your computer. If you cannot find
it anywhere on your system you can download it by clicking here: FTP
server, HTTP server.
You'll need a program such as WinZIP to extract the file.
- All you have to do is copy the .8bf file to the Xtras
directory.
Then choose a cast member and go to the Xtras menu and hit Filter
Bitmap.
A list of all the installed PS plug-ins will show up.
Since there is a large number of Plug-Ins available here, Painter
4.0 seems to load as many as it can depending on the amount of RAM
available.
-
- Once Paint Shop Pro is installed start the program. Then you must
load a picture into it or open a new file. Then go to FILE
PREFERENCES GENERAL PROGRAM PREFERENCES. A requester will open up.
Select the tab called PLUGIN FILTERS. There are 2 areas that you can
type in called (FOLDER INI Section). You must type in the exact path
of where your filters are located. Then press OK. After that go to
the IMAGE menu and at the very bottom you should have a directory or
name called Plug-in Filters. That's where the filters should be.
- You're using either the Beta or Shareware version of PSP, these
won't run any Adobe compatible plug-ins.
- You've downloaded the wrong type; you should have the
"Compatibility" type (filename: "rp...exe")
filters. The others (filename: "up...exe" or
"pp...exe") require the file "plugin.dll"
which is copyrighted by Adobe.
- You don't have the file "msvcrt10.dll" installed in you
Windows/system directory. You can download this file from anywhere
on the internet.
The filters work in Adobe PhotoDeLuxe but you have to select
File>Preferences>Long Menus, then work with files using the
"On Your Own" button. Plug-in filters are available, not on
the easy-to-reach PhotoDeLuxe Modify > Effects tab, but on the
harder-to-select Effects menu along the very top.
The filters all work provided the MSVCRT10.DLL file is present.
Most plug-ins will work, although it does seem that versions before
7.0 no plug-ins will work.
For version 7, it has been said you need both MSVCRT10.DLL and
MSVCRT.DLL loaded in both the Windows and Windows/System directories.
The UnPlugged plug-ins will work just fine although installation
requires some manual work. You'll just need to copy all the .8bf files
from their directories into the main plug-ins directory. The plug-ins
will still show up in their own submenus within Picture Publisher 8.
Make sure the MSVCRT10.DLL file is installed in the windows or
windows/system directory.
Thanks to Ali for this information.
